Gateway is an interesting and fun puzzle game where you have to interact with the objects in the room and try to find a way out. Pretty similar to the likes of Crimson room but much easier in difficulty.
Its not that hard, try to complete the game. Heh.
Play Gateway!
Your objective is to link the same colored markers together. Cannot link cells diagonally though.
Can get quite challenging after level 15. I just solved level 21, have fun. Heh.

Mission Results for Operation final exam is out:
EE2004 - Electronic devices
One of my more confident modules, efforts paid off. Best grade that I ever got in NUS.
EE2005 - Electronics
Very surprising considering that I left quite abit of blanks for the final exams. This is in fact my most confident module for the semester which turned out rather disappointing during the exam, and yet now a sigh of relief.
SSA2204 - Nation Building in Singapore
Escaped successfully!
EE2011 - Engineering Electromagnetics
Bloody hell. Agent Smith slowed me down in my pursuit. Rumor has it that we are going to deal with him again in the coming semester in mission EE2012: Analytical methods in ECE. Watch out Smith.
ST2334 - Probability and Statistics
Indeed underestimated the enemies, but still glad with the result.
GEM2900 - Understanding uncertainty and statistical thinking
Well, slightly lower than what I have expected, but still an okay grade nonetheless.
All in all, it was a good semester for me, not only with the results but I sort of found my field of interest and more or less confirm what I will be specializing in for my upper years. Cheers to that.
Survive as long as you can before overwhelmed by agents. Can pick up items and use them against your enemies.
Matrix Rampage.
Click on the screen at the right time to smash the ice walls. See if you can get past all the barriers.

This tower defence game is based on the "tower defence" of warcraft3 and the "turret defence" of starcraft. The idea is basically to defend your castle from monsters (denoted by black dots and spawn every 20secs) by building element towers around the map.
Element towers (except storm, not sure about the flower one though cos never had a chance to buy it..) can be upgraded which then deal more damage and over a longer range. Each element is unique and have different upgrade bonus and cost.
When a monster gets into the castle, 1 citizen will die. You lose the game when all 10 citizens are killed.
My best score is 72... try beating that!

"Fire an atom amongst gravity sources. To advance a level, the atom must survive the given time without collisions."
Quite addictive.

Now there are less than 4 days left till Christmas, shopping for a gift for your gamer guy friends, where most of my female friends still find it quite hard to fathom people like us, can get downright annoying where they probably got their hands onto the games they desired or nothing else in the world seems to matter more than their world of dungeons and dragons. Now fear not, here's some ideas to help you get the things I want. =p
Unless you are very sure of his type of games, don’t bother buying a game for him. Imagine getting a Need For Speed Carbon for a Final Fantasy fan or Football Manager 2007 /Winning Eleven 9 for a person who knows nothing about soccer, terrible mistake man; those boxes would probably ends up in the shelves collecting dust.
If you do know what games he is into, by all means all ahead with it if it’s within your budget. Wow your real-time strategy MMORPG friend with a World Of Warcraft (aka WOW) for this is a must have for that genre. Downside is that there's a monthly subscription fee to play online though. Medieval Total war is yet another great strategy war game which allows you build an empire and engage in historical campaigns. Get a heroes of might and magic 5 (only if he is into turn-based strategy games) with tactical turn based movements and battles. This is the first HOMM series to implement 3D graphics and was quite a good improvement from the 4th especially the adventure maps and the battle animations in my opinion. Not all gamers fight in a fantasy world though, especially with kids who can't take violence and blood. You could always go for simulation games like NoLimits roller coasters simulation game or roller coaster tycoon where one can build and ride on his own roller coasters.
Gaming gears, in my opinion, will make a much better gift for gamers. What can be worse than a lousy insensitive mouse or having to play a racing game with lousy keyboard controls that screws up your game play and the gaming experience?
Get a Logitech G25’s steering wheel, complete with gas and brake pedals plus a 6-speed gear clutch to enhance your driving experience that shakes with intense force feedback. If this is too expensive a gift for you, try the G15 keyboard instead. It has a folding LCD screen which can display gaming stats, programmable keys to execute complex macro keystrokes and a cool backlit keys for the late night gamers; no gamers will say no to that. Last of all, the Fatal1ty 1010 gaming mouse for the First Person Shooter (FPS) such as Counterstrike, Doom3 and the likes, for greater control and reaction.
For the real geeks, perhaps you could try out the Atari 2600 joystick and paddle Keychains. They actually contained games, just plug in the cable into the tv and one can enjoy real Atari games!
Who says you need to buy something for a gift, how about cooking a great meal or baking some cookies and cakes? As the saying goes: the quickest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, though most guys would say they are aiming a bit too high. =p
It appears that everyone was checking their exam results while Mitch, Jere and I were playing winning eleven and having supper at Geylang on Friday night... So when some people came asking me whether I saw my results, I was like "hello? I am pretty sure I have yet to celebrate Christmas, how to check results?" When I eventually came to know about the leakage (which happened in previous sems before, according to a friend), the webpage has already been removed. Looks like I have been missing out some excitement ensuing from this leakage of results, though some said that those were just the raw score before moderation. Heard some people did pretty well, some not good. Yet from what i gathered, I hope that's not the finalized results.
Ignorance is indeed a bliss.

Timetable for Semester 2 is out. Engine folks can check it out here.
Dammit, looks like I will have to wake up damn early everyday. Why why why so many 8am lectures? Sian..
GEK1527, Genes and society, Science GEM by the department of biological science - introducing biotechnology and its implication for the society. Anyone wana try this out?
Okay, here's a super overdue meme tagged and started off by Pandy:
Instructions:
1) List three stalls (in no particular order) in NUS canteens that you like the most.
2) Explain briefly your choice for each.
3) Tag three people (NUS students and staff... duh!).
4) Link back to the person who tagged you so that backlinks/trackbacks will appear.
1st Choice: Indian food stall in Engine Canteen
The roti prata is the main reason why this stall is chosen. With only 40 cents, you can enjoy a crispy and mouthwatering plain prata soaked in hot curry to kick off your day. Prata with egg costs only 70 cents and there are other types of prata you can get there, including egg with onions, egg with cheese, etc. There are 3 type of curry to choose from, as shown in the picture to the left.
2nd Choice: Dumpling noodles stall in YIH Canteen
I always heard people saying that the food in YIH cannot make it. But well, there is this dumping noodle stall that is simply a must try! Springy noodle that is not soggy at all with a great soup base and delicious dumplings. Their specialty is the san xian dumpling which is supposed to have 3 tasty (hence san xian) ingredients in it, very nice! Other than this, there are also other great noodle dishes there.
3rd Choice: Yong Tau Foo stall in Arts Canteen
Long queue was inevitable even outside of meal times, there were just too many people flooding to this stall from all over the university. Great selections of ingredients as well as the appetizing soup base and laksa gravy were the highlight of this stall. Of course, there are other reasons why my friends and I chose to eat in this stall, but let’s not comment on that.
Other great stalls worth mentioning:
Western stall in Business canteen
Wanton noodles in Science canteen (the one beside the chicken rice stall)
Indonesian foods stall in Engine canteen

One-liner debrief for operation final exam 2006 with reference to the mission briefing for operation final exam 2006:
Operation EE2004
The real battle was indeed much worse than the simulations.
Operation EE2005
Although Miller did not set up any ambush, a certain level shifter monster almost knocked me unconscious around 1 hr into the mission
Operation SSA2204
Smoke grenade and flash bangs was indeed of great help, but I too siao on, even threw in a few fragmentation grenade as well.
Operation EE2011
Agent Smith not only tried to confuse me, he actually shot me right in the face.
Operation ST2334
We shouldn’t have underestimated the enemies.
Operation GEM2900
Uncertainty of understanding uncertainty continues to prevail.
After every flight, pilots fill out a form called a gripe sheet, which conveys to the mechanics problems encountered with the aircraft during the flight that need repair or correction. The mechanics read and correct the problem, and then respond in writing on the lower half of the form what remedial action was taken, and the pilot reviews the gripe sheets before the next flight.
Never let it be said that ground crews and engineers lack a sense of humor!
(P = the problem logged by the pilot.)
(S = the solution and action taken by the engineers.)
P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.
P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.
P: Something loose in cockpit.
S: Something tightened in cockpit.
P: Dead bugs on windshield.
S: Live bugs on back-order.
P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.
P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
S: Evidence removed.
P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable level.
P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
S: That's what they're there for.
P: IFF inoperative.
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.
P: Suspected crack in windshield.
S: Suspect you're right.
P: Number 3 engine missing.
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.
P: Aircraft handles funny.
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.
P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.
P: Mouse in cockpit.

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget.

If you are looking for a slack gem module to clear, I highly recommend GEM2900 (that is if they never change the lecturer). This is a type C gem, meaning it can count towards either gemA (science) or gemB (arts). Of course, slack module does not necessary guarantee an A. But if you do know what to expect and provided you have some interests in stats and probability, then most probably you can do pretty okay in this.
Understanding uncertainty and statistical thinking. This is a statistic course which introduces basic probability and statistical concepts which develops skills in interpreting statistical information and critically evaluate statistically based arguments. There is no concept in this course that is too hard to grasp, perhaps the most difficult obstacle is understanding probabilities, which appears to be the either-you-get-it-or-you-dun category, but in fact they are doable with a bit of a practice. The rest of the content are manageable and there's nothing too mathematical which means the less mathematical incline folks can take this without much worries.
The one thing that's great about this module is that there's no tutorials, which translate into more free time. Furthermore, the lecturer appeared to have a craving for early lunch which led to our early dismissal on too many occasions. It also appeared that the lecturer does not have the desire to create new questions for tests and examinations which left some of us in shock when we found the questions for tests and past year papers all too familiar to be true. And one has to wonder if the lecturer is actually a kind-hearted, understanding person or is he competing for some best bell curve awards or some sort for allowing 4 (FOUR, I spell Foxtrot Oscar Uniform Romeo) A4 pieces of helpsheet for the final examinations.
Okay I better don't anyhow count my chicks before they hatch...
Turbo Sprint XT Gold is a racing game where you ride with 5 other opponents in different tracks. There are 5 checkpoints in each tracks, time will be added if you reach the checkpoints before the time runs out or you will lose the game!
There are 2 kinds of controls to this game, mouse or keyboard. Personally, the mouse is somewhat more difficult to control than the keyboard initially. But I suggest getting use to and using the mouse instead of the keyboard as it can get rather tiring with so much turns one has to maneuver.
I am waiting for the exams (2 more stats papers) to end so i can get my hands on Need for Speed: Carbon! For now, i shall entertainment myself with this first. Muahaha!
Now now, what are you waiting for?

Nus exams are so good in making me feel dumb. In my rush to finish a question within the last 5 mins of my paper, I computed something so ridiculous that I think I should go kill myself. Who the hell makes this kind of careless mistake?? =(
To the optimist, "Phew, at least I finished half the paper sia!"
To the pessimist, "Wtf! I left half the freaking paper empty can? Die lar."
To the engineer, "The exam questions are twice as much as it needs to be."
